The Premier of Prince Edward Island is the first minister for the Canadian province of Prince Edward Island. They are the province's head of government and de facto chief executive.
The current Premier of Prince Edward Island is Wade MacLauchlan, since February 23, 2015. MacLauchlan is the first member of the Order of Canada to become premier of a province, the first openly gay Premier of Prince Edward Island, and the first openly gay man to be premier of a province.[2]
