Combined hormonal contraception




Combined hormonal contraception, or combined birth control, is a form of hormonal contraception which combines both an estrogen and a progestogen. The other major form of hormonal contraception is progestogen-only contraception, which uses only a progestogen. Types of combined hormonal contraception include:



  • Combined oral contraceptive pill

  • Combined contraceptive patch

  • Combined contraceptive vaginal ring

  • Combined injectable contraceptive
