Track changes

Two chicanes were introduced along the Mulsanne Straight prior to the race. This was done to reduce the maximum speed of the cars after speeds of 249 mph (401 km/h) were reached in previous year.

Race

With Sauber not returning for 1990, Jaguar took on Nissan and Porsche. The #3 Jaguar (now running an XJR-12) walked away with the trophy, after the Nissans and the #1 Jaguar broke down. After electrical problems with his own car, Martin Brundle replaced Eliseo Salazar in the Jaguar #3 car en route to victory.

Official results

Class winners in bold. Cars failing to complete 70% of the winner's distance marked as Not Classified (NC).
