Barrie-James O'Neill (born 20 December 1987) is a Scottish singer, songwriter from Glasgow, Scotland. O'Neill started songwriting at the age of 20. On 1 February 2014, as the founder and frontman of the band Kassidy, O'Neill, left the band and moved to Los Angeles, he adopted the stage name "Nightmare Boy" as a solo artist. He has released two singles and an EP.[1][2] On 8 April 2016, O'Neill released his debut album Cold Coffee, which included the official singles "Angel Tears", "Way Over My Head" and "Night Burns".

Career


In 2013, during his time in Los Angeles, California, O'Neill had worked on variety projects. One of which was a collaboration with American singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey on a duet of the song "Summer Wine," made famous by Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra.


O'Neill's first promotional single "Mary", was released on 17 February 2014, The music video was released on 31 October 2013.


The music video for "Chivalry Is Alive And Well And Living In Glasgow" was released on 27 January 2015.[3] Revealed by Pitchfork which was 4 minutes 28 seconds in length.[4] On 16 March 2015, "Chivalry Is Alive And Well And Living In Glasgow" was released as a promotional single from "Hate" (2015). On 24 March, O'Neill released the four track extended play Hate online[5][6] On 8 May 2014 O'Neill announced plans to launch a short film titled SCUMBaG. It was filmed in late 2013 to early 2014, directed by Joe Rubalcaba.[7][8] The short film premiered on 8 May 2015.


On 22 September 2015, Riverside was released online, featuring vocals by Lana Del Rey[9]


His debut full-length album, titled Cold Coffee, was released worldwide On 8 April 2016.[10] with 78,900 copies sold in its first week. On 4 and 10 April saw the release of the singles "Way Over My Head" and "Night Burns".
